Truman Capote, “In Cold Blood”

I enjoyed Capote’s novel, “In Cold Blood”. I give him credit for writing a non-fiction account of the brutal murders of the Clutter family. Capote’s writing style was truly breath taking in giving detailed accounts of what was going through the minds of the killers and possibly of the minds of the victims. The novel itself is a tribute to the victims by giving them a voice for justice, for the pains and torture they went through, and for the world to remember them by. I realize how hard it must have been for Capote in writing this novel and conversing with the murderers, and can’t imagine doing it myself. His photographic memory of writing about the specific details that the murderers referenced to could have been exaggerated a bit, but still, I believe he comes across as genuine and authentic especially in trying to capture the emotions of the victims and the injustice of the murders.
