Least Heat-Moon (Blue Highways)

I enjoyed reading William Least Heat-Moon: Blue Highways. He reminded me much of Steinbeck by writing driving on the highway, going on a journey, in search of the voice of the Americans who were either out casted or under represented during. Least Heat-Moon called the highways blue because of an old map that dashed out the old roads of the time with the color blue. He was in search of finding tribal natives who would enlighten him with their beliefs and spiritual rituals that the government was trying to suppress like rain dancing. Because of this, Least Heat-Moon was able to inform the public of getting the message of tribal people out. His novel had a deeper impression on me, since I believed his journeys were true, unlike Steinbeck. Although, I am baffled why he changed his name from Trogdon to Least, I find him sincere in giving a voice to the American Indians.
