The tears are rolling.....

Yes, I took the easy route and watched the movie instead of reading the book. The movie lasted a few hours and I was hooked on every minute of it. Chris or Alex was one of the most interested characters I have watched in a movie in a long time. For him to be so young, he had an old idea about life. He read authors in which I detest and wanted to explore the world for what it was. He didn't want the material things in life or even love. Basically, he wished to be one with...nature? Majority of the movie, he spoke of his trip to Alaska and how great it was going to be. He met various people and never wanted to stay long. Relationships was something that he did not need as he only needed his backpack and his books.

I think the most tragic aspect of this story is that he was lonely and did not realize it until the end. He abandoned his family, out of anger and ignorance, and died...alone. He wanted them to understand that he did not want their life and never had the chance to face them. I think his journey was supposed to be a lesson for his parents but it ended up being his own. He desperately wanted to go away and experience greatness in the wild. But in the end, the wild is what killed him. A wild plant, wild boy..wild mind. It was sad that he never truly told his story. I found him to be depressed and feeling as though he did not belong. The movie made me quite sad...
